I’m hoping the scene change isn’t too abrupt between this page and the last one, but it should be clear that the Henchmen are no longer in the big city. The name of the suburb is Wheaton, which is the name of a real suburb outside of Chicago, and is also a not-so-subtle shout out to nerd fan favorite Wil Wheaton. I should also note that I’m happy with the way the suburbs turned out in panel three.
This is another page where I had a lot more dialog written out in the first draft, but then I put on my editing hat and decided that it was more effective to leave some things unsaid. I think it works better dramatically.
In case there’s any confusion though, Tinker is referring to Bruiser when he makes his side remark, and not his pal Evers. They’re getting along just fine, thanks.

That was clear enough, but something else isn’t: I assume that’s Evers pointedly not responding to Chance’s question in Panel 2?
I’m still not clear what Bruiser is really getting out of bringing Evers into this, outside of Tinker’s assessment, of course. Getting his lawyer to watch how Evers reacted to the kid being greased, would, I think, answer the same question.
I have family in Wheaton, just stay away from the golf course with the supervillians, and don’t destroy from Webster’s, best filet Mignon you’ll ever eat.
Wheaton College- Alma Mater of Billy Graham, Josh McDowell, William Lane Craig and…wait for it…Wes Craven (no joking).
Also, Wheaton is where the Belushis grew up.
