A busted-up hero held together by squirrels wasn’t going to last that long anyhow….
If you haven’t checked it out yet, the Henchmen for Hire Special #1 with two original short stories is available as a downloadable PDF for only 99 cents. Click on the link over on the right side of the page to get your copy!
When I first started this storyline back in 2014, I had never heard of Marvel’s Squirrel Girl character. As the story progressed, I gradually became aware of the character, but I figured she was a minor player in the Marvel universe. Now as my story approaches the climax, I hear rumor that Squirrel Girl is going to become a major character and may even appear in a movie.
I only mention this because there are always some folks who will accuse you of ‘ripping off’ ideas, and trying to capitalize on the popularity of someone else’s work, and I actually considered changing into some other animal midway through the story. Obviously, I decided to stay the course and continue on with the squirrels. I’m not ripping anybody off, and I don’t think Marvel can copyright using squirrels in a comic…
So here we are. Achilles and the Tek-Squirrels would actually be a cool (and strange) name for a band, and if anyone out there wants to use it, you’re welcome to it. If the band takes off and does great, I hope you’ll give a mention to Henchmen for Hire, but I won’t begrudge you the use of the name. I hope all those Squirrel Girl fans out there feel the same way….
