I think I first read the term “Science Hero” in an Alan Moore comic, although it may have been around from a lot earlier. Either way, I like the idea a Science Hero. I’m wondering if NanoMan would qualify as one (or a Science Villain, I guess.)

The limited series “Top Ten” by Alan Moore is probably the one you are referring to. =) I never heard of it before then either.
You may be right about ‘Top Ten’ as the source for the term. I think it also came up in Alan Moore’s ‘Promethea’, although in those stories I’m not sure if we ever actually knew what exactly made a ‘Science Hero’ distinct from any other type.
